Everything, in the sack

Capture. Organize. Never lose a thought.

Notes, checklists, files and secrets in one board you can actually find things in — and a phone number you can text when typing isn’t an option.

10 days free, then $4.99/month. Cancel any time.

The BrainSack board: notes, checklists, files and locked notes laid out as cards, with tags and a capture box across the top.

Features

One place, whatever the thought looks like

Most note apps make you decide what a thing is before you can write it down. BrainSack takes it first and lets you sort it out later.

Four kinds of card

A thought is rarely just text. Notes, checklists, encrypted secrets and files each get a card that fits the shape of what you put in it.

Tags that do the filing

Tag anything, then click a tag to see only that. No folders to invent up front, no nesting to regret later.

Find it again

Search the whole sack, or narrow by tag or kind. Pin what you need daily, archive what you are done with - nothing gets deleted by accident.

Files, attached to the thought

Drop up to ten files on an item, 10 MB apiece. The quote, the floor plan and the note explaining them stay one card instead of three places you have to remember.

Secrets stay secret

Encrypted notes are sealed with a key of your own, wrapped in Azure Key Vault. The body is never in a list, a search result or a page load - it comes back only when you ask for it.

Board or list, your call

See everything at once as cards, or run down it as a list when you are working through the pile. Three themes, and card spacing to taste.

Share a note with anyone

Send a note or checklist to somebody who has no account with a link that reads it out and nothing else. It stops working after 24 hours, so a link that escapes does not stay open.

Text it in

No app, no signal for faff — just a text

Every account gets a number. Text it and the message lands on your board a second later, tagged and filed, whether or not you have the app open.

  • Hashtags become tags. #work in the message is a tag on the card, not clutter in the text.
  • Tags you don’t have yet get created - there is no picker on a keypad.
  • Nothing is lost to a flaky moment: a message the network re-sends is recognised as the same one, not filed twice.

Dump mode

When it’s all in your head at once

One big empty box instead of the board. Type the lot, leave a blank line between thoughts, and every block becomes its own note when you save.

  • A blank line is the only rule. No picker, no mode to choose, no saving one note before you can start the next.
  • Hashtags work here too. #work inside a block tags that note and comes out of the text — and tags you don’t have yet get made.
  • It counts as you type, so you can see it read six thoughts and not one long one before you commit.

How it works

Three steps, then it’s just there

  1. Make an account

Email and a password, or continue with Google. Takes about twenty seconds.

  2. Start the subscription

Checkout is handled by Stripe - we never see your card. You are in the moment it clears.

  3. Fill the sack

Type it, paste it or text it. Tag as you go, or don’t and search for it later.

Pricing

One plan. That’s the whole menu.

No seats to count, no feature held back for a tier that costs more. Everyone gets the same sack, and everything in it.

FAQ

Questions worth asking

Do I have to pay to use it?

Eventually, yes. The first 10 days are free and you can cancel inside them without paying anything, but a card is taken up front and there is no free tier after that - one plan, and the app is behind it.

What happens if I cancel?

Access stops at the end of the period you have paid for. Your board is not deleted, so if you come back later it is all still there.

How does the texting work?

Add your mobile number in settings and we give you a number to text. Anything you send from that mobile lands on your board. It works with US numbers today.

What does “encrypted note” actually mean?

The body is encrypted with AES-GCM under a key that belongs to your account, and that key is itself wrapped by Azure Key Vault. It is never included when a board loads or a search runs - decryption happens only when you open that one note.

I think in bursts, not one note at a time. Is that catered for?

That is what dump mode is for: one big box, a blank line between thoughts, and each block lands as its own note when you save. Hashtags inside a block tag that note, so a brain dump comes out filed rather than as one wall of text you have to break up later.

Can I share something with someone who has no account?

A note or a checklist, yes - you get a link that shows that one item, read-only, and expires after 24 hours. Encrypted notes and files cannot be shared: their whole point is that there is no anonymous way to reach them.

Can I attach files?

Up to ten per item, 10 MB each, any type. They upload when you save rather than when you pick them, so an abandoned draft leaves nothing behind. Archiving an item keeps its files; deleting it removes them.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes, and you can have both - a Google sign-in on an address that already has an account links to it rather than making a second one.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. The site works on a phone, and texting covers the case an app is usually needed for - getting something out of your head while you are walking.
