Text messaging

What BrainSack's text messages are, how you agree to receive them, and how to stop them. This is the program description behind our toll-free number.

What the number is for

BrainSack is a personal notes app operated by RW Business Solutions LLC. Every account gets a toll-free number to text things to: whatever you send lands on your own private board as a note, seconds later. That is what the number is mostly for — messages coming in, from you.

Messages going the other way are limited to two things: a one-time code to confirm a number when you add it, and occasional notifications about your own account and the notes you have texted in. We never send marketing texts, and we never text a number that has not agreed to hear from us. There is no list to buy your way onto and nothing is imported — every number we hold was typed in and confirmed by the person holding the handset.

How you opt in

Registering a number is something you do inside your own account, on the Phone page, and it takes three deliberate steps:

  • You type your mobile number into the Phone page at app.brainsack.com/phone.
  • You tick the consent box, which is unticked every time and which Save will not proceed without. The wording is below, and it is what appears on screen.
  • You enter the one-time code we text to that number. Nothing is stored until the code checks out, so a number can only be added by whoever is holding the phone.

We keep a record of that agreement against the number: the date, and the exact wording you agreed to, kept verbatim rather than as a reference to this page — so it still says what you actually agreed to long after this page has been edited. Changing your number asks for the agreement again, because the old one was about the old number.

The wording you agree to

This is the opt-in, reproduced exactly as it appears above the Save button. The checkbox itself says:

I agree to receive text messages from BrainSack at this number, and I confirm this number is mine.

And the disclosure printed underneath it says:

BrainSack texts a one-time code to confirm this number, and may text you about notes you send in. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Frequency, and what it costs

Message frequency varies — it depends on how much you text in and how much is happening on your account. There is no scheduled send and no campaign.

Message and data rates may apply. Those come from your own mobile carrier, not from us; BrainSack charges nothing for texting, and texting in is included in the subscription.

How to stop, and how to get help

  • Reply STOP to any message and we stop texting that number. You will get one final confirmation that the opt-out went through, and then nothing.
  • Reply HELP to any message for contact details and a pointer back to this page.
  • Reply START to opt back in, or simply add the number again on the Phone page, which collects a fresh agreement.
  • You can also remove the number on the Phone page at any time, which stops messages in both directions, or email [email protected] and we will do it for you.

Opting out never costs you your account or anything on your board. It only ends the texting — everything else in BrainSack works without a number.

What we do with your number

We do not sell or share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent with anyone for marketing purposes, and we never pass them to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing. The only company that sees your number is Twilio, which carries the messages for us and may not use them for anything else. The Privacy Policy has the detail, including how long each record is kept and how to have it deleted.
